Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.

 

Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate plays a lead role in budgeting, financial forecasting and cost control for mine operations.  The Senior Mine Accountant will work locally on a five days on and two days off schedule.

 

The focus of this role will include:

  • Provide management with regular financial reports and analyses to assist in decision making and monthly cost reporting and review 
  • Assist department heads with budget development and management  
  • Prepare financial forecasts for mine revenue and costs
  • Ensure adequate financial controls are in place
  • Work closely with Controller to ensure consistency with Corporate financial requirements
  • Lead the process of developing Life of Mine financial documents
  • Participate in the yearly audit and ensure deadlines are met and reporting is accurate and compliant with industry and company regulations
  • Provide guidance and support on OPEX and CAPEX
  • Ensure all bills, invoices, accounts are paid in a timely manner
  • Budget forecasting reporting controls
  • Deal with account reconciliations
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management
  • CPA Designation
  • Four (4) or more years of related mining operations experience
  • Solid working knowledge of both generally accepted and international accounting principles including GAAP and IFRS
  • Able to prepare financial forecasts based on mine performance, current metal prices and net smelter returns (NSR)
  • Able to interpret, apply and explain applicable laws, codes, regulations and ordinances
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly with Excel
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting software, GP experience preferred; and
  • Ability to work well in a team.
