Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.


Reporting to the Mill and Site Maintenance General Foreman the successful candidate reviews the maintenance activities of the mill and future crushing operation to live the safety culture, optimize resource use, minimize costs and maintain quality standards. This position requires an individual who has a strong maintenance background with good planning, organizing, leadership capabilities and communication skills. The schedule for this position is locally based on a 14 on and 14 off rotation.


Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures mill activities are conducted in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario) and Regulations and environmental standards
  • Provide front-line supervision of corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance with established budget limitations. 
  • Ensure required maintenance standards and preventive, predictive (condition based) on mechanical equipment are followed. 
  • Manage the implementation of standards, targets, policies and plans to ensure the continuing and increasing operational efficiency, effectiveness and profitability. 
  • Develop and direct cost-effective solutions to meet customers’ expectations and technical requirements and to encourage best practice and innovation throughout maintenance functions. 
  • Execution of short, medium and long-term maintenance and operation services plans to ensure technical standards, specifications and quality assurance systems. 
  • Provide site-wide management and leadership for the successful implementation of the reliability-focused maintenance management operating system. 
  • Ensure personnel development through varied job assignments, training, and employee involvement. •
  • Provide on-going coaching, feedback, and development suggestions to improve employee performance.
  • Provide timely, accurate and well-communicated shift reports and summaries for cross-shift and turnaround needs.


Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in an ore processing environment associated with crushing, grinding, gravity concentration, dewatering, leach/CIP, stripping, conveying and refining 
  • Supervisory common core.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of mill equipment maintenance and repair
  • Strong leadership and team building skills to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse workforce
  • Instills a “team” approach in working with other operating departments
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills as well as superior written and oral communication skills
  • Good Computer skills Microsoft office, CMMS software
