Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.


Reporting to the Metallurgist, the Metallurgical Technicians plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities and process in the mill operation from a central control room. The Control Room Operator will work locally on a 5 days on 2 days off work schedule.

The focus of this role will include:

  • Follow safe working practices and site safety guidelines and ensure activities are conducted in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario) and regulations and environment standards.
  • Support mill operations on a day to day basis to achieve safety and production targets
  • Support Metallurgist in all metallurgical accounting and daily reporting as required
  • Provide operational support for the water treatment facility
  • Trouble shoot process upsets and provide corrective solutions in a timely manner
  • Engage in metallurgical sampling and preparation
  • Work as directed in Met lab activities
  • Assist in the day to day operation of the gold room and gold room activities
  • Maintain a high level of inventory accounting within the gold room
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding gold room activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years in a gold milling environment
  • Common Core training
  • Proven safe work practices
  • Good problem solving and decision making skills as well as superior written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the process flow and equipment sequencing
  • Demonstrated ability to understand operating parameters within the milling process
