Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.

 

Reporting to the Mine General Manager, the successful candidate is to support the site management team by leading the Pure Gold culture through human resources programs and practices. The role will support full employment cycle initiatives including recruiting, employee relations, employee benefits and training and development. The Human Resources Superintendent will work locally on a five days on and two days off schedule.

 

The focus of this role will include:

  • Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario) and Regulations and environmental standards
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the culture of Pure Gold mining is apparent in the management practices that meet the operations strategies and are consistent with best practices and relevant legislation
  • Provide human resources support, guidance and advice to Managers, Superintendents, front-line Supervisors, employees, etc. communicating policies and procedures in a timely and effective manner
  • Lead total reward programs including compensation, benefits and rewards
  • Maintain and improve effective onboarding and orientation programs for new employees and contractors
  • Establish communication processes to develop employee relations and communicate in a timely manner, corporate and site relevant information and drive team building activities on-site
  • Lead talent management including recruitment, interviewing, performance management, retention and exits
  • Analyze training needs and implement employee training and development programs
  • Partner with management to facilitate change management
  • Work with management to conduct progression planning and forecast future staffing need
  • Liaise with external advisors to address employment law matters
  • Develop and maintain monthly statistical reports (e.g. new hires, turnover, etc.)
  • Maintain employee records and files according to established labour practices and standards
  • Research and keep up-to-date on legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective bargaining contracts to assess industry trends
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • B.A. or B.Sc. in relevant field
  • 7-10 years of human resources experience including 3-5 years at a leadership level
  • Excellent communication and change management skills
  • Proven experience as a partner to leaders and managers
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills; excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
  • Ability to multi-task, be self-directed and self-motivated
  • Previous work experience in mining operations
  • Familiarity with Canadian employment practices
