Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.


Reporting to the Materials Superintendent the successful candidate provides high quality service and support to the Materials Department through the sourcing and development of supply sources. The Buyer will work locally on a five days on and two days off schedule.


The focus of this role will include:


  • Complies with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures
  • Day to Day processing of Requisitions by obtaining quotes and entering PO’s.
  • Following up on past due orders and expediting with various Suppliers
  • Assists with developing/improving and streamlining processes within the Purchasing function
  • Daily communications with vendors regarding quotations and orders.
  • Communicating with various departments regarding orders status.
  • Preparing request for quotations for goods and services
  • Sourcing, selecting and negotiating the best purchasing package for quality, price, terms, delivery and service with suppliers
  • Assisting with internal and external client and supplier base requests and enquiries
  • Issuing change orders and investigating invoice discrepancies for accounts payable
  • Data entry – Creation of new inventory items in the system and other system maintenance as required.
  • Assist with receiving invoices against open PO’s to support A/P Department
  • Assist with building/pulling reports to support procurement and various departments.
  • Identifying cost saving efficiencies within the purchasing process
  • Other duties as requested

Skills and Experience:


  • Previous experience in purchasing for mining operations and / or mine suppliers
  • Post-secondary education in the Purchasing field is an asset
  • Excellent problem solving, communication and decision making skills
  • Ability to effectively deal with high pressure environments and tight deadlines
  • Strong computer system proficiency with purchasing software and Microsoft Office
